The project was conceived as the first interactive online encyclopedia of 26 Maldives atolls for travel agents from Russia and CIS region. Until recently, the retail did not have a comprehensive understanding of the Maldives, some agencies did not work a lot with its tourism products. Therefore in 2020, when the "paradise" islands became one of the few destinations open for Russian tourists, it was extremely important to react promptly and educate the market to work with this destination.
The participants of "The Maldives: Divine and Various"
project not only evaluated the convenient training format and actively joined the educational sessions, but also showed impressive results in the competition for booking tours to the Maldives. 280 bookings were recorded within the campaign.
"The collaboration with Profi.Travel was deeply important to the Maldivian tourism industry, — said MMPRC
. — Training over 2 000 tour operators on information regarding the Maldives will have positive consequences for the years to come".
The Russian market is the second largest incoming market to the Maldives. Since the borders opened, the Maldives has received about 80 000 travelers from Russia. Visit Maldives plans several more marketing campaigns to maintain destination presence and promote the Maldives as a safe travel destination to Russian and CIS market.
